Srixon Golf Balls Review

13

The Srixon Golf Ball is an excellent quality golf ball in the Srixon line. The improved ability to spin is the most prominent feature of this golf ball. The Srixon Z-Star golf balls will adjust their spin accordingly to optimize both control and distance depending on the golf club swing speed and angle. The Spin Skin is the new-and-improved technology that increases the frictional force by 18 to 20% while improving softness by 20% compared to the former model. The three-layer composition is geared towards faster swingers, although it has a softer cover, and golfers are more skilled at using ball spin.

Srixon Soft Feel Golf Balls

While most golfers remain fixated on trying to hit the ball farther, the essence of good golf is not raw distance, its distance control – the ability to hit the ball specific distances. The Srixon soft feel men’s golf balls are redefining game improvement golf balls. These golf balls are engineered for the average golfer, with more distance and improved accuracy off the tee. The brief description of the ball is as follows:

Srixon Lady Soft Feel Dozen Golf Balls

As the legendary Bobby Jones once said “Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. Srixon Golf Balls Review

While the Soft Feel, not surprisingly given its name, has always been known for its soft feel, the latest version is the softest yet, as its compression has been reduced from 72 to 60. The enhanced softness, however, has not come at the expense of performance, as players can still expect an excellent combination of distance and accuracy off the tee on all full shots. Additionally, the cover has been made thinner and softer to help improve spin around the green.

The Soft Feel comes in both white and yellow colors for men, while the ladies version is available in white and passion pink. Ideal For: Higher- or mid-handicap players, seniors, and ladies who don’t TMt generate a lot of club head speed but want a ball that provides soft feel with consistent distance and improved accuracy. The Soft Feel excels as a distance ball and its lower spin rates make it especially accurate off the tee.

While it might not provide as much greenside spin as other members of the Srixon ball family, when compared to other balls in its category the Soft Feel fares quite well in that regard, which is among the reasons why it has been one of the SrixonaTMs all-time most popular products. Srixon Soft Feel 10 and Lady 5 Golf BallsChris Wallace from TGW talks with Eli Miller, product manager of Srixon Golf about the Soft Feel 10 and Lady 5 Golf Balls. Energetic Gradient Growth Core Advanced construction creates an optimal transfer of energy for maximum distance and enhanced performance.

Softer, Low-Compression Core Promotes a softer feel on full shots without sacrificing distance or accuracy. Softer, Thinner Cover Generates more spin on shots played around the green while maintaining exceptionally soft feel. The brief description of the product is as under:

  • Softer, lower compression core – the new soft feel’s energetic Gradient growth core is 60 compression, which is 12 points lower than the previous model. Softer feel on all full shots without sacrificing the core’s high launch, low spin performance.
  • Softer, thinner cover – the Ionomer cover on the new soft feel is 11 percent thinner and 5 percent softer than the previous model, with the softest feel rating tested in the low-compression category.
  • New aerodynamic speed Dimples design – the new soft feel cover features the 324-speed dimple pattern, which combines greater uniformity of dimple design with better surface coverage.

PROS:
  • Easy to spot.
  • Make drives longer.
  • Nice feel and reasonable price.

Buying Guide For Srixon Golf Balls Review

Srixon unveiled their new Z-Star XV and Z-Star golf balls. The Z-Star lacks Tour bona fides as the ball of choice for players like Hideki Matsuyama and Cameron Champ. From tee to green, both versions of the latest Srixon Z Star golf ball provide excellent performance.

According to the players, Srixon hasn’t changed much in the new versions, as the feel of the previous generation of Z-Star golf balls is the same. The Z-Star XV off the putter creates a slightly higher-pitched impact sound, and the Z-Star makes a more resonant sound.

Both balls feel very similar while the sound is different. The softer ball feels heavy off the head with some brands. Both Srixon golf balls have a reliable, firm response on the green.

  • 4th Generation Spin Skin with SeRM.
  • Designed for swing speeds of 90+ mph.
  • 338 Speed Pattern.
  • 90 Compression.

Game

In the sixth generation of Z-Star balls, one of the significant upgrades is the new Spin coating with SeRM. According to Srixon, this allows the cover to go deeper into grooves for more spin. Both balls produce remarkably consistent green side spin. Players notice that spin numbers stayed in a tight range on pitches and half swings from flush shots to mishits.

The Z-Star XV has almost every piece as much spin as the Z-Star. The Z-Star did spin a little more, but that reduced spin in the XV might benefit high-speed players.

Srixon Z Star XV

  • 338 Speed Pattern
  • 102 Compression
  • Designed for swing speeds of 100+ mph
  • 4th Generation Spin Skin with SeRM

Technology

The best way to describe the Srixon Z Star XV and Z Star golf balls’ technology is to start from the work and core outward.

The FastLayer Core comprises thousands of softer layers in the center and gradually firm up as its core’s diameter increases. This technology is created to produce long distances off the tee while retaining a soft ball’s feel and touch.

It also has to be reactive around the greens and with scoring irons as it isn’t enough for a Tour ball to produce extreme distance. The Spin Skin with SeRM is a durable and flexible coating on the cover that helps the ball dig into the trenches.

While creating greater friction, the Slide Ring Material is a series of molecular bonds that stretch but don’t break. More grip gives more excellent stopping, increased control, and power maximized spin.

Srixon says that the 338 Speed pattern utilizes five dimples sizes that offer more lift and less drag. The dimple pattern is designed to fly straight and long, even in severe windy conditions.

Srixon Z Star

  • Premium Mantle Layer
  • FastLayer Core
  • 3-Piece Construction

Srixon Z Star XV

  • Premium Mantle Layer
  • Dual FastLayer Core
  • 4-Piece Construction

Testing

The Srixon Z Star and Z Star XV golf balls are tested on multiple occasions in two different climates.
First, in snowfall, with a relative winter with temperatures averaging in the mid-40s. Courses were open for business and in pretty good shape at that time.

PROS:
  • For a complete tour performance, there is four-piece construction.
  • New SeRM cover material is more scratch-resistant.

CONS:
  • From the FastLayer core, only fast-speed players will get the maximum benefit.

The Z-Star XV also consists in its cover the Slide-Ring, i.e., SeRM material. It makes the ball less susceptible to damage and absorbs impact vibrations better, and helps the ball restore its shape more particularly after impact.
Into the Spin Skin coating, this unique SeRM is blended to improve short-game spin performance without negotiating distance.

The new core becomes more resolute to increase the ball’s maximum distance and speed for faster sports around the edges. The Z-Star XV slightly tighter than the Z-Star model has a 102 compression.

Claim

Srixon claims that their latest spin engineered with Slide Ring Material provides a softer cover material that produces extra friction for added taste. It is the most attractive feature where players found themselves missing the green with the approaches more times, but the Z Star saved it.

It did seem like there was some high spin around the greens, and there is a smooth feel to these balls on smaller chip shots. When they hit the surface, full swing wedges backed up, and chip shots produced entirely spin to check and bounce.

Z-Star XV

In addition to energetic gradient growth core technology, the Z-Star XV is a golf ball that features double cores with a 338-speed pattern and Spin Coat. Because it produces a lower spin with a slightly high launch, it differs from the non-XV version. You will notice the driver’s firm feel and a little more of a clicking sound on wedge and iron strikes. This golf ball is a higher compression with a rating of around 102.

Q-Star Tour

This golf ball is a 338-speed pattern that also features energetic gradient growth core technology and a proprietary Spin Skin Urethane. This golf ball is a three-piece where its core is much softer than the other tour balls, and you will have a smooth feel on all the shots. The Q-Star Tour with a rating of around 75 is a lower-compression golf ball. This ball generally comes in pure white and yellow colors.

Z-Star

The Z-Star features technology of energetic gradient growth core, a three-piece golf ball with a 338-speed pattern, and Spin Coat. This golf ball is a soft feel on all shots and is a low-compression ball with a rating of around 90. Z-star comes in pure white.

Results

  • Around the Green Field
All the golf balls functioned the same around the green field. All of the golf balls spin enough to stop where we want them to.
  • 75 YardsIn this test, there was some separation between the golf balls. Just a little extra than the other two, the XV ball rolled out. The Z-Star ball and Q-Star Tour ball also launched higher off the wedges and produced a bit more spin.
  • 150 Yards
For most of the golf balls, this range had similar results. With the full shot, you will get the XV ball to compress. All the golf balls functioned great. The XV is a bit smooth, softer, and produces the click sound, most probably due to more of the golf ball being compressed. Due to the softer compression, the Z family balls were a little more workable than the Q-Star Tour.
  • DriverThe XV had a less spin and higher flight than the other golf balls. Behind the XV, the Z-Star was about 5 yards on average. The XV was built for driver distance.
